River Confluence Fair
River Confluence Fair is modelled on the historic Uttarayani Mela celebrated along the confluence of the Saryu and Gomti rivers in Bageshwar. Beginning around Makar Sankranti, the fair features folk music and dance performances, trading stalls selling copper vessels, bamboo articles, carpets and blankets and food stands offering singori sweets and mandua rotis. Pilgrims bathe at Bagnath Temple and pray for prosperity. Local women showcase rangwali pichhaura garments, while farmers exchange seeds and agricultural implements. The festivities peak during the last five days of the fair.
